Deloitte Auckland

Fisher Partners partnered with Wellington studio Custance to deliver the prestigious new Auckland office for Deloitte. As a result of this three year long project, 900 Deloitte employees are now happily ensconced in No.1 Queen Street on Auckland’s waterfront.

Following a comprehensive workplace strategy process, we defined a broad and diverse set of requirements within which we needed to deliver a compelling and engaging workplace design and overall vision for the project.

Thanks to its unique location, the concept of navigation became our guiding principle and it informed the planning, design and detail, assisting the team to realise both practical and aspirational elements of the brief.

The sense of arrival into the space, cues for orientation within it and how the spaces bring together Deloitte’s people, clients, and community talks to how they chart new courses towards an innovative future.

Symbolically, this is most evident in the feature elements we delivered for the reception area. The korowai wall in the reception area represents a woven cloak and features a tāniko or border referencing Auckland’s many volcanos. Kaitaku (a highly prized korowai) speaks to arataki (a Deloitte NZ value) to lead the way.

Deloitte’s teams have thoroughly embraced the design, finding it warm, inviting, and supportive of diverse work styles.

The shared kitchen/hub has become a central place for connection and collaboration, reducing the need for formal meeting rooms and enhancing focus areas.

The design has boosted connectivity, morale and productivity, with more staff choosing to work from the office.

Deloitte’s new workplace is the outcome of both innovative design and strategic vision, creating a dynamic, welcoming, and functional environment that aligns with the company’s values and aspirations. The project was awarded a Bronze in the 2024 BEST Awards in the both the Workspace and Colour Awards categories.
